But these forms of media are not your only options for engaging with the cannabis world. There is also a wealth of podcasts available for the avid cannabis user, and if you haven\u2019t explored them yet, now is a great time to give them a try.<\/span><\/p>\n

We spoke with Periodic Effects host Wayne\u00a0 Schwind who is the founder of a cannabis-infused caramel company<\/a> and asked for his insight into the benefits of taking edibles versus other types of consumption methods.<\/p>\n

“The number one piece is what is your preference. You probably find the effects you’re looking for, the experience, around your preferred consumption method.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Some people prefer inhaling cannabis while others prefer edibles, whether it’s for a medicinal reason like digestive issues or personal preference. Schwind also recommends looking at the properties of a cannabis edible product, like which cannabinoids and terpenes does it contain? What is the dose, how long does it take for effects to kick in and how long do effects last? “Edibles last much longer than inhaling cannabis, but they take a little longer to take effect. So for something specific like sleeping through the night, normally an edible is better because it’s going to last longer through the night,” Schwind explains.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re all curious about what we can expect regarding the future of cannabis legalization. We just wanted to ‘come out of the cannabis closet’ and show people that it’s normal to smoke weed and that the bad rep over marijuana needs to go away. With us both being very diverse, we feel we can advocate not only for women, but those of color who can\u2019t speak out about cannabis due to a variety of reasons. There has been a number of stigmas that tie into using cannabis, but there doesn\u2019t have to be!”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The hosts of The Cannabis Hangout also feel strongly that their listeners can make a difference when it comes to the role cannabis plays in society. “Educate those around you even if they don\u2019t see eye to eye. Have those tough conversations regarding cannabis and stigmas so people can learn. I, Sabah, am an immigrant and a daughter to immigrant parents who have always been closed-minded about cannabis; however, through multiple (and still on-going) conversations, we\u2019ve made massive improvements on how they view cannabis because I\u2019ve poured so much knowledge into them. There\u2019s a sense of empowerment we feel every time we get to consume and\/or be around this plant because it has changed so many lives. Educate yourself more so you can educate others more and we can change the stigmas regarding cannabis!”<\/p>\n
