A New Cannabis Spray for Psoriasis and Atopic Dermatitis?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

What can\u2019t cannabis do for your health?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Research has reported that cannabis can help with many ailments from mental health to gut health<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There is even a bustling cannabis beauty sector\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But cannabis for skin health, unfortunately, is largely underreported.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thankfully, help may be on the way<\/span><\/p>\n

A new topical spray<\/a> is in development that will hopefully tackle inflammatory skin issues such as atopic dermatitis, and psoriasis<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The product is a result of a partnership between Israeli company Cannasure and Swedish pharmaceutical brand Lipidor who specializes in dermatology. Cannasure plans to utilize Lipidor\u2019s existing formulation and add cannabinoids that can target these aggravating skin issues.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A Drug That Can Stop a Cannabis Overdose<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Next in news,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now that cannabis legalization is expanding rapidly across the country, the rate of ER visits due to cannabis has more than tripled in the last decade.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These ER visits are largely made up of people who have overconsumed cannabis edibles<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite what many believe, it is possible to \u201coverdose\u201d on cannabis.\u00a0<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

An overdose simply means you took too much of something, it doesn\u2019t always necessarily mean that it\u2019s lethal.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Anyone who has eaten cannabis edibles will tell you that when you consume too much THC, it can certainly create intense discomfort <\/span><\/p>\n

but it always passes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There are several methods to help calm it down that don\u2019t require a trip to the ER, such as taking a nap\u2026<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

But an even quicker solution may soon be on the horizon for those who aren\u2019t willing to wait out the high\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A company in San Diego has been awarded an $850,000 grant to produce an injectable form of a drug called Drinabant, to help treat an acute cannabis overdose.<\/span><\/p>\n

At this time, Drinabant can only be taken orally but that delivery method takes too long for the body to absorb for it to be of any help.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Drinabant is thought to work by binding to the CB1 receptors and replacing THC and other cannabinoids to help reverse the effect of too much THC.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So, why even develop something like this if a cannabis overdose isn\u2019t lethal?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Well, let\u2019s not forget about synthetic cannabinoids which pose a more severe threat.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

K2 and Spice notoriously cause overdoses that can turn deadly<\/a> because they are often made of unknown artificial chemicals that\u2019s sprayed on plant matter which, then, is sold illicitly.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Though natural cannabinoids are significantly less harmful than synthetics, they both still bind to the brain\u2019s cannabinoid receptors in the same fashion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So, something like Drinabant will certainly come in handy in this instance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s a great thing to not only see this plant becoming normalized but to witness the great things that research is uncovering.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
