Provide some basic medical history and book an appointment with a licensed marijuana doctor. The $199 fee includes your consultation fee, physician copay, and the medical evaluation for your recommendation.
Consult with a marijuana physician who will evaluate your ailments and answer any questions you have about medical marijuana treatment. This can be either online, through video, or in person, depending on where you live.
If you are approved for medical marijuana, you’ll receive your recommendation. Depending on your state, you will either be granted immediate access to dispensaries or wait to receive your card in the mail.
In March 2023, Gov. Andy Beshear signed Senate Bill 47 into law, making Kentucky the 38th state to approve medical marijuana use.
SB 47 establishes a medicinal cannabis program by allowing patients to access medical cannabis if their practitioner deems they could benefit from the use. The legislation institutes a governing body to decide daily THC limits and methods of use. Patients will be allowed to have a 30-day supply of their medication at their residence and a 10-day supply on their person.
The program officially goes into effect in January 2025, giving ample time for the Cabinet for Health and Family Services to draft oversight regulations for the program.
Local governments are currently in the process of licensing medical cannabis dispensaries, and Kentuckians can expect these dispensaries to start cropping up over the next two years when the program launches.
Veriheal is partnering with Johns Hopkins University and Realm of Caring to facilitate the biggest cannabis research study ever! Called The National Cannabis Study, this research is poised to revolutionize global understanding of medical cannabis through a never-before-used multi-dimensional approach. By focusing on real-world experiences and data, the study aims to further cannabis education and inform clinical decision-making, product development, and public policy.
