Christmas and Hanukkah are upon us, and what better way to celebrate the festive green trees and lights than by lighting up some of your best greenery? To truly enhance the experience and get into the high holiday spirit, add some lively songs to your weed session — and we’ve got the perfect playlist.
Everyone has heard the traditional Christmas music (Mariah Carey is basically the soundtrack to December), but what about the more zany renditions of decades-old classics? If you’re anything like us, you’re probably looking for a way to shake it up this year. To get you started, we’ve compiled a collection of songs that are rife with both holiday cheer and references to our favorite plant: cannabis.
You’ll find popular artists like Willie Nelson and Snoop Dogg alongside comedians and underground hits to ensure there’s a track for every mood. Pack a bowl of Christmas Tree weed, turn on your speakers, and enjoy as we highlight a few of our top holiday songs below.
Willie Nelson is an icon of cannabis culture, and his songs often reflect his deep love and affection for the plant. His Christmas music is no exception. A collab Christmas album with Kacey Musgraves, A Very Kacey Christmas, features the song “A Willie Nice Christmas,” which is a cheerful and touching ode to toking up for the holiday. “May we all stay higher than the angel on top of the tree,” Musgraves and Nelson croon together.
And that’s not all — on Stephen Colbert’s compilation Christmas album from 2008, Nelson and Colbert sing and joke about “The Little Dealer Boy,” crafting a funny spin on a traditional classic. Nelson’s songs are the perfect backdrop to any holiday celebration, and he’ll inspire you to share the spirit with your own loved ones.
Latkes and Chanukah
Although Hanukkah songs are a little harder to find at this time of year, a few artists have made sure that our Jewish friends are not left out of the festivities.
On a 1994 episode of Saturday Night Live, Adam Sandler tuned in to bless watchers and fans with an original number titled “The Chanukah Song.” This goofy song pays tribute to famous Jewish people like David Lee Roth and Kirk Douglas, while also encouraging people to “Drink your gin and tonic-ah/And smoke your marijuani-khah.”
One of my favorite sleeper hits from the playlist is by MC Flow, who debuted her single “Pot in the Latkes” in 2015. Latkes, also known as potato pancakes, are an iconic Jewish delight prominent at many Hanukkah gatherings — and in this story, they’re loaded with cannabis.
Afroman is Coming to Town
We’re big fans of Afroman here at Veriheal, so naturally, we had to include some of his Christmas cannabis tunes in our playlist.
On his 2006 album A Colt 45 Christmas, Afroman features two songs dedicated to marijuana: “O Chronic Tree” and “I Wish You Would Roll A New Blunt.” In both tracks, he expresses his one true Christmas wish: to get some cannabis! Fortunately, it’s probably not difficult for Afroman to find his favorite greenery and achieve his Christmas miracle.
Doggy Dogg Celebrations
Snoop Dogg loves Christmas, as expressed in his full 2008 album Christmas in the Dogghouse. There are sprinkled cannabis mentions by featured rappers Korupt, Chris Starr, The Hustle Boyz, and Uncle Chucc throughout this album, with lyrics like “As I post under the mistletoe/Smokin’ my Christmas smoke/My Christmas bong” and “I rolled a blunt and let it burn by the firewood.” However, Snoop’s personal cannabis ode can be found in “Twas the Night Before Xmas,” where he sings:
“Yo Santa, what’s up? Did you bring me some chronic?” And Tanqueray gin I can mix with my tonic? He said “ho, ho, ho” and opened his sack It was stuffed full of endo, had to take a step back “Is this for the Dogg? Did you bring this for me? To blaze with my hos and my closest homies?”
Only Snoop Dogg could provide such a tongue-in-cheek play on a beloved classic.
Happy Holidaze!

Historically, cannabis culture grew out of an underground legacy formed in response to staunch opposition and long-standing federal prohibition of the plant. Almost half of U.S. states now allow adult-use legalization, blending cannabis’s original subversive, anti-establishment attitude with modern institutional, legal, and corporate frameworks. The spread of cannabis jargon into unfamiliar spaces always introduces funky…
In the decades before marijuana legalization began to spread across the United States, the legacy market (formerly known as the black or illicit market) was the go-to place for people to purchase cannabis. It was an industry filled with people from all walks of life, who partook for an even wider variety of reasons. Some…
