The United Nations Office on Crime and Drugs wants to see a ban on cannabis advertising in an effort to place more emphasis on public health rather than commercial interests and profits.
The UN doesn’t have the power to enforce these types of rules, however, it can make recommendations.
Many are of a similar opinion and want to avoid a situation like how tobacco used to be advertised a century ago where it was promoted as a beneficial product for everyone.
Stats suggest that the percentage of young folk who perceive cannabis as harmful dramatically fell as much as 40% in the last 25 years
Meanwhile the potency of cannabis products have risen significantly in the same timespan.
Cannabis has so much potential to benefit our health yet it has suffered an everlasting stigma that has been hard to shake.
So, it makes sense to be cautious in how it’s advertised to the public, especially where children are present.
Canada and Uruguay are the only countries that have completely ended cannabis prohibition, and both have taken strict approaches to advertising.
Next in news,
A Virginia organization gave out free cannabis seeds to residents to celebrate the state’s first day of cannabis legalization.
Virginia Marijuana Justice hosted “The Great Commonwealth Cannabis Seed Share” and gave around 10,000 free seeds this past thursday.
The state won’t have a retail market until 2024, but in the meantime, residential cultivation is permitted and people can enjoy their own homegrown products.
Right now, under the new Virginia cannabis law, a person can grow four plants at home.

And lastly,
Bob Marley’s family is jumping in on the shroom boom!
The Marley family has partnered up with Silo Wellness, a leading global psychedelics company, to launch Marley One, the first global functional and psychedelic mushroom consumer brand.
Marley One will first launch with non-psychoactive mushroom wellness products.
These products will be made with “functional mushrooms” like lion’s mane, chaga, reishi and turkey tail all of which offer unique health benefits that span from immunity health to sleep help.
The company intends to eventually launch a psychedelic mushroom product line under the Marley name later this year, to be followed by additional functional mushroom products.
The hope is that this will begin a conversation about mushrooms in general, and help to pave the way for psychedelics in the long term .
The CEO of Silo Wellness stated, “The bigger goal is to destigmatize [mushrooms] and to get people to look at it without all the concerns that they have because of all these preconceived notions”
We certainly can’t wait to see what Marley One has in store for us!
