I’m not sure about you, but one of my New Year’s resolutions is to consume more cannabis in 2022! While this is a resolution I likely won’t have any issues sticking with, many of the more common New Year’s resolutions aren’t as easy to commit to.
Before you toss your burdensome resolution to the side, though, consider this: Cannabis could actually aid you in reaching certain goals. Whether you’re looking to lose weight, quit a nasty habit, create healthier habits, take on new hobbies, or embrace your spirituality, cannabis might help you get there.
Lose Weight
Despite the common stereotype, not all cannabis gives you the munchies. In fact, it has been shown that strains high in a cannabinoid known as THCV have the ability to help suppress your appetite, which can be quite helpful on the journey to lose weight. If you’re looking to enjoy your green and pursue your weight loss goals simultaneously, check out some of these recipes that are rich in THCV. For more information on THCV itself, check out this article.
Additionally, many people embrace cannabis consumption before and after workouts. While there is no evidence that this practice increases the impact of the workout, some users have anecdotally reported that cannabis makes workouts more bearable by decreasing the perception of discomfort.
Quit Drinking
Despite the fact that alcohol is more socially acceptable and accessible compared to cannabis, more and more folks are swapping out their cocktails for joints and edibles. And for many, this is a step in the right direction. Not only does alcohol pose a lot of long-term health risks, but it also can lead to poor behavior and encourage weight gain.

The most prevalent research is focused on the benefits of CBD in relation to alcoholism. The existing research in this area is promising in its conclusions about the use of CBD to assist in battling alcohol addiction. Studies show that CBD offers protective properties against alcohol’s negative effects as well as decreases the motivation to consume it. Even if you aren’t addicted to alcohol, CBD could help you decrease your overall alcohol consumption.
Quit Smoking
Heart disease and lung cancer are among the most prevalent causes of fatality in our society. Unfortunately, tobacco is known to be a cause of both of these conditions. Despite being readily available in stores around almost every corner, cigarettes continue to kill hundreds of thousands of people every year. For this reason, quitting smoking is a very common resolution.
Some may think that trading out cigarettes for cannabis is just swapping one vice for another, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, there are many ways in which cannabis may help one quit smoking. Preliminary research has shown that CBD may reduce withdrawal symptoms in nicotine-dependent individuals. Several companies have also developed hemp-based cigarettes that are nicotine and tobacco-free, which could help some people wean off of traditional cigarettes.
Embrace Meditation
Cannabis is as ancient as the practice of meditation, and for many cultures, it is widely believed that the two go hand-in-hand. Cannabis can help to deepen your meditative state, expand your consciousness, and give you “access to planes of thought you might not otherwise have been able to experience.” To learn more about the art and practice of embracing cannabis’ effects to bring forth a more elevated meditation experience, check out this article.
Be More Creative
Some of the most creative minds in history spanning the musical and artistic realms have embraced cannabis. From Bob Marley to Pablo Picasso, a profound amount of artistic geniuses through the centuries have understood just how much cannabis can help to boost creativity. Art itself is a form of therapy, and cannabis’ ability to alter our perceptions and thought processes only boosts the experience.
As a writer and aspiring painter, I can attest to the creative potential of cannabis firsthand. The words I articulate and the designs I procure are both much more profound when the creative powers of cannabis are in full effect. If you’re interested in becoming more creative, perhaps sparking a bowl before hitting the canvas may be just what you need to get your creative juices flowing.

It’s not just liberty caps anymore, folks. There are many different varieties and types…
As of now, 15 states have legalized adult use of med and rec, and when a state legalizes recreational use of cannabis, people tend to stop getting their mmj cards. But cannabis consumers who opt not to get a MMJ card are missing out on a bunch of benefits like paying lower costs, the ability…
Edibles are arguably one of the best means of recreational cannabis consumption—you get to eat a treat AND experience a long-lasting high. But it’s easy to end up dealing with some unwanted side effects due to the variability in the onset of these THC-packed goodies, which come in the form of brownies, cookies, gummies, chocolate,…
