Maryland is one of twenty-six states—along with the District of Colombia—who currently have laws legalizing marijuana in some form. Recently, the state’s medical marijuana commission took big strides as they approved 102 dispensaries for preliminary licenses. The approved dispensary applicants first underwent background checks and financial history checks before moving into the second stage of the approval process. Among providing two new dispensaries for each of the state’s 47 senatorial districts, the Natalie M. LaPrade Medical Cannabis Commission also discussed concerns about a lack of diversity in the pre-approval process.
Although this is fantastic news for the applicants who have seen their blood, sweat, and financial tears come to a resounding conclusion, the real winners are the patients who have been waiting a while for this type of medicine in the state of Maryland.

The great news is that Washington DC will be opening up their dispensaries for Maryland recommendation holders! DC Council passed a bill in November allowing patients who have Maryland recommendations to purchase at their dispensary. The law will take several weeks to go into effect, but between DC Dispensaries, and Maryland dispensaries opening up, Maryland medical marijuana patients have a lot to look forward to in the next few weeks to come.
Maryland law limits dispensaries to two per state senate district, with exemptions for shops operated by growers. Eight districts have been approved for three dispensaries, while a Senate district that includes Rockville and Gaithersburg is slotted for up to four marijuana outlets.
Here is a list of the Maryland dispensaries that will soon be near you!

Navigating the laws on traveling with medical marijuana (MMJ) is incredibly confusing with the current global stance on cannabis. In the U.S., some states are okay with you bringing your medicine with you as long as you can prove your patient status, while other states are staunchly against it altogether, leaving MMJ patients in a…
People have been smoking joints for a long time. The first rolling papers surfaced around the early 1500s in Alcoy, Spain. These weren’t like the rolling papers we know today though. To start, these papers were intended for tobacco, not cannabis. They were made of hemp along with other textiles and lacked an adhesive gum…
Cannabis seeds, aka beans, come in a lot of different varieties.
