The Natalie M. LaPrade Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission (MMCC) oversees all licensing, registration, inspection, and testing measures to Maryland’s Medical Cannabis Program. At the end of October, the Commission voted unanimously to award Peninsula Alternative Health their dispensary license, making them the first medical marijuana dispensary on the Eastern Shore.
Located in Salisbury, Maryland, PAH—or Peninsula Alternative Health was created in 2015 to provide alternative medicine to patients who can benefit from safe access to quality medicinal cannabis. The founders of the company have been pushing their cause for nearly three years now. They said they first submitted their first application years ago, and then had to resubmit for a second time when the state came to inspect their facility. Now, PAH crossed the final hurdle and got approved by MMCC’s latest inspection.
Licensed medical cannabis growers and processors have been working throughout Maryland to make products available for dispensaries to provide to patients and approved dispensaries are expected to have products within 30 days. Peninsula Alternative Health is just one of six dispensaries currently awarded in the state of Maryland, and MMCC’s decision to allow PAH to open its doors has definitely provided the owners with a plethora of satisfaction and gratitude. The founders are also looking forward to providing their customers with more local information about medical marijuana and its health benefits. Pre-approved patients and families in Maryland can also be grateful for PAH’s opportunity and can expect a dispensary that will provide them with comfort, safety, and support when making therapy choices.
