Jane Goodall recently partnered with Canada’s Neptune Wellness Solutions. She is often noted for her 60-year career in primatology and anthropology. Her research forever changed the way humans viewed their relationships with animals. Through nearly 60 years of groundbreaking work, Dr. Jane Goodall has not only shown us the urgent need to protect chimpanzees from extinction; she has also redefined species conservation to include the needs of local people and the environment. Today she travels the world, speaking about the threats facing chimpanzees and environmental crises, urging each of us to take action on behalf of all living things and the planet we share.
With Goodall’s help, the company will launch a CBD-infused wellness product line under the company’s Forest Remedies brand. Neptune Wellness Solutions donated $25,000 to the Jane Goodall Institute and also through the partnership, customers will have the option to enter the promo code “DrJaneGoodall” when they purchase any of the Forest Remedies products and five percent of those sales will also go to the institute. Neptune Wellness also donates portions of all ‘Forest Remedies’ sales to One Tree Planted, a non-profit organization that plants trees in deforested regions of the Amazon rainforest.
The product line will include plant-based hand sanitizers, essential oils, and hemp-derived products. “In light of COVID-19, we believe there will be a renewed focus and emphasis on personal self-care,” Neptune Wellness’s CEO, Michael Cammarata, said in a press release. The team behind this believe they will provide consumers with affordable, sustainable, and socially responsible products to support their health and wellness. They anticipate a Summer 2020 launch of the co-developed products.
Goodall has a long-standing business relationship with Neptune founder and this is not her first collaboration with the company. This marks Goodall’s third partnership with Cammarata and reflects their mutual goal of enabling consumers to make ethical purchasing decisions that create a better world for all living things. Because of these similar environmental passions, this partnership is clear about their responsibilities to minimize their environmental impact. Michael Cammarata, Chief Executive Officer of Neptune Wellness Solutions was quoted, “Neptune is dedicated to being in front of the curve–ecologically, environmentally, and ethically.”
With the CBD space continually expanding and contracting, customers are starting to make their purchases count in ways that support sustainability. While some may speculate that developing another new brand in the already saturated market, this consumer buying power is fueling success for reputable, quality, like-minded brands. Having a story behind a brand and one with emotional connectivity – like this partnership – sets new products apart from the standard choices.
As the hemp and cannabis industries each individually continue developing and overlapping, the ones that last will be for a reason. As opportunities to partner cannabis and hemp with someone or something iconic grow as fast as public acceptance, we will continue to see more developments like this one. Hopefully this refinement of cannabis and hemp brands advance sustainable and eco-green practices.
