Can cannabis help in the romance department? If you’ve ever wondered if there’s a relationship between sex and cannabis, the answer is yes. Along with its innumerable other health applications, cannabis has the potential to enhance sex. Here’s how.
How Can Cannabis Improve Sex?
There is often said to be a connection between romance, sex, and cannabis. But is there any evidence to back this up? Yes, there is. Cannabis’ destressing properties are ideal for helping people relax, and the plant is known to make things like touch and taste more enjoyable.
For men, relaxing can help slow things down and enhance romance. This can help with stamina and lead to an overall more pleasing experience for all involved. For women, the relaxing effect of cannabis heightens the chances of reaching climax.
Cannabis and Female Orgasms
Women, do you find your sexual experiences less than satisfactory or struggle to achieve orgasms? Cannabis may be just what you need. Researchers investigated this, and the results are promising.
According to the study, “The primary outcome was satisfaction in the sexual domains of drive, orgasm, lubrication, dyspareunia, and overall sexual experience.” Additionally, “Women who reported marijuana use before sexual activity had 2.13 higher odds of reporting satisfactory orgasms (adjusted odds ratio = 2.13; 95% CI = 1.05, 4.35) than women who reported no marijuana use.”
This research went on to narrow down the results of improved romance and sex, saying, “After adjusting for race and age, women with frequent marijuana use, regardless of use before sex or not, had 2.10 times higher odds of reporting satisfactory orgasms than those with infrequent marijuana use (adjusted odds ratio = 2.10; 95% CI = 1.01–4.44).”

The study showed that cannabis did, in fact, help improve romance and sex for women, concluding, “Marijuana appears to improve satisfaction with orgasm. A better understanding of the role of the endocannabinoid system in women is important because there is a paucity of literature, and it could help lead to the development of treatments for female sexual dysfunction.”
