Gov. Polis is working hard to keep Colorado’s cannabis legislation up to date
He recently sat down with High Times to discuss what’s in store for Colorado where cannabis was legalized for recreational use almost one decade ago
Polis indicated that Colorado’s cannabis industry is certainly thriving.
“We’ve driven most of the criminal element out of cannabis. We’ve generated good jobs, and We’ve increased quality for consumers,as well as generated tax revenue for our schools.
It’s really been a great success in Colorado and, frankly, the only thing holding it back from even more success is the federal government getting out of the way.”
When the pandemic struck, Colorado cannabis dispensaries were permitted to adjust operations to accommodate for social distancing measures which has ultimately secured the industry as essential, where it should be.
Polis has even pardoned nearly 3,000 low level cannabis convictions since these crimes are no longer considered criminal
And he insists there is still more that needs to be done
He recently signed a social equity measure to help those with felonies be able to enter into the cannabis industry, something that was previously prohibited.
Colorado is one of a few states at the forefront of cannabis legalization and reform
and it’s awesome to see that lawmakers are willing to stay abreast of cannabis education

He’s partnered with the co-founders of Main Street Marijuana, one of the more popular companies in Washington that has produced more than 150 million in sales and more than 55 million in taxes.
Kemp has stated that he hopes to be an inspiration for People of Color to get involved in the cannabis industry

And lastly, Australia has approved a record-breaking number of medical cannabis patients.
Last month, over 6,000 patients were approved to use medical cannabis treatment,
This is the highest number of monthly approvals since 2016 when cannabis was first federally legalized
Similar to America’s cannabis prohibition, Australia utilized the same fear-mongering tactics to strictly forbid the plant, lumping it in with heroin, cocaine, and other illicit drugs.
Australia has one of the highest cannabis user rates in the world and has an increasing support for decriminalization altogether
The country has set intentions on setting quality standards on all cannabis products hopefully by the end of the year
